LA BAMBA'S BIGBAND
- SUNDAY -

.
We couldn’t believe our good fortune when we heard that LaBamba wanted to bring his Big Band to JUKESTOCK! OK so it meant making some slight technical adjustments the existing stage in order to accommodate the extra band members, but shortly after Sunday brunch, the Garden State Ballroom was once again reelin’ and a-rockin’ to some incredible sounds.

The Big Band (famous for its mega horn section) do a fantastic arrangement called "New Horse" which calls for Richie and his wonderful charismatic charm to conduct his fellow musicians as each (yes, each!) of them has an opportunity to perform solo. Add "When You Dance" (complete with "LaBamba" chant) and "Across 110th Street" to the band’s repertoire and you’ll have some idea of the energy these guys can produce when they get together.

LaBamba was ably assisted by the highly energized stage persona of Mark Pender and when they work together, they are dynamic! Sam and Dave?? Fuggedditt… we had Richie and Mark!

In addition to the musicial extravaganza, the Big Band had so many members of the Asbury Jukes (past and present) it was like Mike Saunders’ incredibly detailed "Jukes Family Tree" had come alive.
