Also a special thanks to Sue (LaBamba's bass woman)who drove me up so I could
ride out the storm with my dear friends. It was such an enjoyable ride that I was
sorry it went be so quickly!!
Now, about the musicians- rather than repeating what everyone else knows and we will no
doubt(happily) read over and over again, I want to share just a few of my more personal
thoughts. One thing that I have experienced over the years with these guys is that
they have the ability to make every person they are speaking to at any given moment feel
*special*. As if all of the hubbub surrounding them evaporates for those few minutes
while they are speaking with any particular fan/person. Whether it's the eye contact
or the hello hugs or fact that they actually remember us from past shows....whatever it
is, I find it amazing that with all the people they meet and all the places they go, they
really know us - and WANT TO KNOW US! This is a very special quality that I find
more and more of the musicians and people around them possess. The fact that
Southside is the center of it all....well, think of what an extraordinary heart and soul
this man has to create such camaraderie and to have so many talented people who enjoy
working with and around him.
We, the fans, are simply an extension of it all and are fortunate enough to share in his
amazing energy. (I'm not getting too "California" for you now, am
I)?
Am I rambling? Probably. I still need some serious sleep while I continue to
smile from the awesome weekend.
Thank you, thank you, thank you - to all of you who contributed to making this so special
- I am truly indebted to you all. Trust me when I tell you - I really needed that!

Yes, the
JUKESTOCK high is still soothing my soul out here on the left coast and I'm so happy to
read all of your reviews. Debbie, Maggie &Jane...what can I say (again
but I just can't help myself!?) You have outdone yourselves as is apparent from
all of the wonderful kudos you have been receiving!
One night at the salad bar, I bumped into someone I haven't seen in 15 years or so.... we
used to spend summers together on Fire Island. How wonderful to make that connection
again. Now that I live in California and she lives in NJ, the chances of our bumping
into each other were slim to none. Who knew that my old friends had such great taste
in music!!??!!
What else? Aren't the Danni's a trip?!?!? DanniGirl is the one pre-JUKESTOCK
person that I was in semi-regular contact with. Then on Friday morning, just as I was
deciding how I was going to get to Asbury Park to meet Stan & his tour, I bumped into
Danni2 (everyone's favorite girl scout). We ended up spending the day together so
I've been lucky to get to know both Danni's. What a treat they both are.
I hate to be the one to say this but I believe that this should not be an annual event.
It is way too special and I would hate to see any of this feeling compromised or be
watered down by having it too often. How about every 2 or 3 years? I, of
course, am assuming that out favorite musicians - all of them! - will be playing &
singing for a good 3 or 4 decades to come!
Lastly: The musicians are the Jukes and the organizing ladies the Jukettes.
Clearly, the serious collectors are Jukophiles. Does that make the rest of us Jukesters?
