Friday night started off great:
We met some new
people before Jeff Kazee even started playing. He played a great set of soul music that
got the festivities off to a hot start. Later Bobby Bandiera and crew kept things going
and rocking with some real rock music.
Saturday afternoon was a dream come true when we got our picture taken with Southside
Johnny and got his autograph. We then got autographs from all the Jukes! John was very
nice to us and kept seeing one person after another. We also got to look at much much
Jukes memorabilia. There were pictures and posters and much much more from many years ago.
Saturday afternoon brought Mark Pender and band to the stage with a horn section
consisting of Mark, LaBamba, Ed Manion, and Stan Harrison. This band was a lot of fun!
Saturday night a very lucky winner of a raffle got to introduce the Jukes as they started
their concert. For those of you not there the setting has to be described.
The music was in one of the hotel banquet halls with a stage only about a foot higher than
the floor. A couple of the room's chandeliers hung at each end of the front of the stage
which looked pretty surreal mixed in with the colored spotlights and big speakers.
Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes knocked us all out for 3 hours. They really outdid
themselves with a great mix of old, new, rarely played, and often played songs. Every
member of the band was really into it and playing so fine. Johnny was really happy with
the crowd and seemed to be having a great time. I'm sorry but I can't put into words how
much it meant to me to be there and hear this show.
Goodbye for now and hope to see them and our new friends again soon.

Hi All,
In my post Sunday
night, in my state of exhausted euphoria, I forgot to say thank you to all involved.
Please accept a late thank you thank you thank you. To Debbie May, Jane McCreery and
Maggie Powell, to the bands, to the staff, and to all the other attendees who had a good
time.
Hey, how many of us were there from Ohio? I met a couple of guys but the digest makes it
sound like there were many more.
