Subject: It's been a long time...

Well, where do I begin? What do I say that hasn't been already been said?

One week has past since the start of JUKESTOCK, and in that week I had some time to reflect on all the weekends events....

After arriving back in Pittsburgh Monday evening, shaking off the effects of to many "vitamin V" cocktails or not enough, I begin to come down with the flu, so in my Nyquil haze I am even more reflective on the weekend and all the hysteria that went on...

Friday....

My right hand man Tony and I arrive at the hotel giggling like two school girls and really pumped up for the weekends events...Jeff Kazee was a pleasant surprise. He is the funkiest white man around, his band Prof. Crewcut really got things going for the weekend, they really set the tone for things that were about to come....Then Southside jumps up and sings a few tunes, one being Tony’s favorite soul song, and the smiles on our faces and everyone in the room was like Christmas morning and getting your favorite toy!...Bobby B puts on one hell of a show, keeps things rocking with his own songs and some kick ass covers, but he won't play "Smoke Two Joints" by Pittsburgh rocker & good friend of Bobby's, Norm Nardini.....

Saturday.....

The autograph session, the memorabilia, pictures with Southside, what more could you ask for... Right before I was about to meet Southside I was trying to figure what I would say to him...I had this nice little thank you for the years of great music speech that I had all worked up, but when I got to meet him it was more like Thanks, I am a big fan, sign this. basically it was rumblings from a nervous grown man!....but he was in good spirits.

"The Love Man"....

What a show!!!! I think between me and the Love Man we drank up all the "vitamin V" in NJ that weekend! In the hotel bar after the Jukes show he gave me a "woohoo" for drinking the same as him....

The auction was fun and exciting, with me checking my tickets and not even coming close on any the stuff that was available...but my right hand man Tony walks away with the grand prize of the jean jacket that was owned by Southside....and seeing Tony take a nap in the jacket, priceless!. We are grown men in our 30's and once again we are giggling like school girls!

The Jukes Show....

What can I say that hasn't already been said about this fabulous show...it was like seeing Southside for the first time...and hearing some of my top 5 was great....Little Girl So Fine in particular!!! Head to the bar for some more "vitamin V" and some jukes camaraderie...it was there that I got to know some of you...

To The Cleveland Girls who will never die...see ya in Youngstown, and remember "what happens in Jersey, stays in Jersey"... the Dani girls...you both are really sweet and were fun to hang with, I really enjoyed my conversation with you (Blonde Dani),and I hope this is a start of many things to come..(more Jukes shows, Pender shows..Labamba shows etc...)

Batting third and playing right field number 21...Stan the "JAG OFF"....that guy made me feel like that I have known him forever...remember you always have a friend in PA, and if you ever head this way, I will take you to a Steelers game...GO STEELERS!! Kim too!

Special shout to Bob and his wife Jeanie thanks for the great conversation at dinner and getting to know you better....

My man Markus and his wife Sylvia, you two were great sports and it was a privilege to get to know you and talk about the power of music, especially Jukes music....

Last but not least, I want to thank the bands, Jane, Maggie, Debbie, and Tony whose efforts and dedication to this weekend made this all possible, once again THANKS!!!!!!!!!

sorry for the long post.....still effected by the flu..(Nyquil)...

Gotta check Mister Popeye!
PEACE...LOVE...& SOUL!
Patrick
